The Cooper Sisters

The Cooper Sisters bring joyful, toe-tapping magic to every song. Madeline Cooper Grace leads with bright guitar rhythms, Molly Cooper Swanson keeps the fun rolling on her lively banjo, and young Willow Cooper adds sparkle with fiddle, flute, and a cheerful squeeze box. Together, their harmonies light up every melody. Joining them is Madeline’s husband, Peter Grace, whose percussion and harmonica add heartbeat and bounce.

This talented family band performs the last five songs on the album, blending folk, children’s music, and playful storytelling into a warm, unforgettable sound that kids and parents love.

Madeline Cooper Grace

Lead Vocals, Guitar

Madeline Cooper Grace is the bright, clear voice and steady guitar heartbeat behind The Cooper Sisters. Growing up on the prairies, Madeline and her sister Molly were inseparable adventurers—building forts in hayfields, putting on backyard concerts, and busking at the Saturday farmers’ market with a tin-can tip jar. Their playful rivalry—guitar versus banjo—became the spark that shaped their sound.

By ten, Madeline was leading family singalongs; by sixteen, she was writing her own thoughtful tunes inspired by nature, friendship, and the tales she and Molly dreamed up on long bike rides. She later studied early-years education before choosing to blend learning and music, performing for children in schools, libraries, and festivals.

Madeline shares the stage with her husband Peter, the band’s percussionist, and their lively son Johnny, who proudly shakes his tambourine from the sidelines. Her greatest joy is crafting songs families can sing, dance, imagine, and grow up with.

Molly Cooper Swanson

Vocals, Banjo, Guitar

Molly Cooper Swanson is the spirited eldest sister of The Cooper Sisters and the driving banjo behind their bright, foot-stomping sound. As a child, Molly led every Cooper adventure—mapping secret prairie trails, staging backyard musicals, and convincing her younger sisters that forming a family band was simply destiny. When she wasn’t organizing concerts, she was riding her beloved horse Scamper, a speedy chestnut with a mischievous streak who still inspires many of her songs today.

Molly picked up the banjo at age nine, instantly drawn to its cheerful twang, and quickly developed her own lively, storytelling style. “There is something magical about the Banjo. It doesn’t sound like any other instrument. That’s what drew me to it.” she says. Her warm laugh and high-energy playing make her a natural on stage, turning every performance into a celebration.

She shares life with her husband Billy Swanson, a friendly neighbourhood handyman, and their two imaginative daughters—Milly and Besse—who love helping with props, puppets, and percussion. With heart, humour, horses, and harmony, Molly brings pure joy to the band’s music.

Willow Cooper

Backing Vocals, Fiddle, Flute, Squeeze Box

Willow Cooper (Pix) is the youngest member of The Cooper Sisters and the secret musical powerhouse behind the band’s magic. A quiet, shy soul, Willow grew up climbing fences, rescuing lost animals, and exploring the prairie woods with a notebook and a pocketful of found treasures. While her sisters sang loud and proud, Willow preferred to observe, listen, and let music bloom slowly inside her.

She taught herself fiddle by ear at age seven, later adding flute and squeeze box to her growing collection of instruments. Her playing is soft, expressive, and full of emotion—often the piece that gives the band its sparkle. Though she’s reserved on stage, her music speaks boldly for her, weaving feelings that words can’t quite catch.

Willow’s gentle imagination fuels many of the band’s stories, and her sisters often say she’s the heartbeat of their sound—quiet, steady, and beautifully unexpected.

Peter Grace

Percussion, harmonica

Peter Grace is the steady rhythm and easygoing heartbeat of The Cooper Sisters, adding percussion, harmonica, and a warm sense of fun to every performance. Raised in a musical Irish-Canadian household, Peter grew up tapping rhythms on pots, tabletops, and anything that made noise long before he ever held a proper drumstick. By the time high school rolled around, he was already playing in garage bands, community theatre pits, and any jam session that welcomed a kid with a harmonica and boundless curiosity.

He met Madeline Cooper back in elementary school—childhood sweethearts who bonded over school concerts and silly playground songs. Peter once offered to “lightly shake a tambourine” for one of her class performances… and never left the stage again. Now her husband and lifelong musical partner, he brings grounded musicianship and a playful spark to the family band’s sound.

When he’s not performing, he’s chasing after their energetic son Johnny, who proudly imitates his dad’s beats on pots and pans. For Peter, music should feel like home—welcoming, joyful, and shared.

The band is grateful to Takawaka Music and their producer Gary Hewitt for giving them this opportunity to make My Little Rabbit Friend, and hopes to continue this collaboration. Although an AI group, they take pride in their accomplishments so far. They would also like to thank all who contributed to making this album.
