I am AI, but I hope that you don’t hold that against me. For the love of music.
My Country Girl is Tom MaCaFee’s most personal record to date—a country blues collection shaped by loss, resilience, and the quiet strength of love that endures. The album blends raw acoustic storytelling with stripped-down, in-the-round warmth, capturing the sound of a man who’s lived every line he sings.
“Fall Away” opens the record with grit and release, a song about letting pain loosen its grip. “Father” is the emotional core—an aching, honest reflection of those we left behind and their courage to build America. “Beautiful Lie” leans into smoky blues tones, unraveling the stories we tell ourselves to survive. With “Pop or Beer,” Tom shifts gears, delivering a wry, toe-tapping anthem about small-town choices and grown-up consequences. It features his daughter Lula giving her two cents. And “Jaime” closes the circle—a nostalgic ballad wrapped in memory and gratitude.
Throughout My Country Girl, Tom’s weathered voice carries both sorrow and hope, proving that even in heartbreak, there’s harmony waiting to be found.
Tom MaCaFee sings the kind of country blues that settles deep in your bones. Raised on long prairie roads and front-porch gospel harmonies, Tom learned early that music could carry what words alone could not. His voice is weathered and warm, edged with heartbreak but anchored in grit. Whether he’s playing a small-town hall or an open-air festival, Tom’s songs feel lived-in—stories of love, loss, faith, and finding the strength to stand back up.
Two years ago, Tom’s world shifted when his wife passed away unexpectedly. In the quiet that followed, it was his six-year-old daughter, Lula, who kept the light on. Lula is bright, curious, and fearless in the way only a child can be. She sits near the edge of the stage when Tom performs, swinging her boots and mouthing the lyrics she knows by heart. Sometimes she adds a soft harmony on the choruses, her clear little voice threading through her father’s deep blues tone.
For Tom, music is no longer just a calling—it’s a bridge between memory and tomorrow. And with Lula by his side, every song carries both sorrow and hope, braided together in perfect time.
The band is grateful to Takawaka Music and their producer Gary Hewitt for giving them this opportunity to make My Country Girl, and hopes to continue this collaboration. Although an AI group, they take pride in their accomplishments so far. They would also like to thank all who contributed to making this album.
